Jamaica’s Under-20 Reggae Girls set to fly out for CONCACAF Qualifiers in Nicaragua
Jamaica’s Under-20 Reggae Girls are all set to compete in the upcoming CONCACAF Under-20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers, set to take place in Nicaragua from February 20 to 25. Among the talented squad, West Bromwich Albion striker Una Lue who is one of seven overseas-based players named to represent the country.
Jamaica has been drawn into Group D, where they will face hosts Nicaragua, as well as St. Kitts and Nevis and St. Vincent & the Grenadines.
In addition to Lue, the other overseas-based players include Kayla Raghu-Nandanan, Jaileah McPherson, Alyssa Stephenson, Maya Raghu-Nandanan, Avery Johnson, and London Phoenix.
The strong local contingent, features seven players from the Women’s Premier League champions, Fraziers Whip, including Tiny Seaton, Destiny Powell, Tavia Gayle, Andreene Smith, Daneil Beckford, Casandra Smith, and Akelia Johnson.
Also joining the squad are Shane Ashley from Reina’s Academy, Sajane Anderson of Vere United, Dale Ann Daley of Real Mobay FC, and the unattached pair of Ariel Lindo and Britney Gregory.
The Jamaicans will open their campaign on Wednesday, February 20, against St. Vincent and the Grenadines, before taking on St. Kitts on Saturday, February 23. Their final group-stage match will be against Nicaragua on Monday, February 24.
After the round-robin stage, the top team from each of the six groups will advance to the 2025 CONCACAF Under-20 Women’s Championship, where they will join top-ranked teams, the United States and Mexico, in the battle for three spots to the 2026 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup, set to take place in Poland.
