Jamaica’s team set for August 13 departure for Goodwill Swimming Games in Barbados
Jamaica’s 40-member swim team will depart the island next Thursday, August 13 for the 29th staging of the Goodwill Swimming Games, scheduled to take place in Barbados from August 15 to 17.
The delegation will be under the leadership of head coach Lemone Lowe, with former national swimmer Angella Chuck appointed as team manager .
The Jamaicans will compete across five age-group divisions for both boys and girls in what is expected to be a highly competitive regional meet.
Events listed include the 50 and 100 metre butterfly, 50 and 100 metre backstroke, 200 metre individual medley, and freestyle relays.
The trip was made possible as a result of a sponsorship package valued at one million dollars by betting and gaming Giants Supreme Ventures limited that will aid essential aspects of Jamaica’s participation including airfare, accommodations, meals, team gear, and venue-related costs.
Along with Jamaica the list of participating countries is completed by hosts Barbados, Curacao, The Bahamas, Grenada, Guyana, St. Lucia, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and Turks & Caicos Islands.
