Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls pulled off an amazing victory over the England Roses

Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls pulled off an amazing victory over the England Roses to level the four-match Horizon Netball series one all. 

This after they secured a last second 50-49 win over the visitors in game three on Monday night at the National Indoor Sports Centre. 

In the quarterly breakdown Jamaica led 12-10 after the first quarter, before going to the dressing room with a 26-23 lead at the half time break, then emerging 38-35 winners of the third period, before wrapping up the victory courtesy of Shanice Beckford who sank a stunning buzzer-beater to break the 49-all deadlock. 

Romelda Aiken George at the goal shooter position scored 30 of 34 attempts, while Beckford who played goal attack scored 19 goals from 23 tries, including the winning shot. 

The series now stands at one-all after game 2 ended in a closely-contested 49-all tie in England.

Jamaican captain Shamera Sterling-Humphrey who was named player of the match, was delighted with the team’s performance and the support of the Jamaican fans .

The winner of the series will take home the Rhone Hornsby Trophy.
