Jamaica’s murder tally surpasses the 1,000 mark
Jamaica’s murder tally has surpassed the 1,000 mark.
According to the latest police data, 1,039 homicides were recorded up to Saturday, November 23.
This is 44 more than the 995 recorded up to Saturday November 16.
However, it is 223 fewer than the 1,262 murders recorded up to November 23, last year.
St. James recorded the highest number of murders, with 117, followed by St. Andrew South with 107.
Portland recorded the lowest with 12.
Meanwhile, incidents of rape, robbery and break-ins also decreased.
Cases of rape declined by 107, robberies by 136 and break-ins decreased 7.
