Jamaica’s Monkeypox case count increases to 9
Jamaica’s Monkeypox case count has climbed to 9.
The update was given by Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton in parliament, this afternoon (September 6).
Dr. Tufton said the 2 latest cases recorded yesterday (September 5), are locally transmitted.
The two new cases were identified in a female and a male, both of whom are isolated at home, in stable condition.
These patients had no recent travel history and have no confirmed link to the previously announced cases.
The respective parish health departments have commenced contact tracing associated with the cases.
Dr. Tufton has stressed that, with the increase in locally transmitted cases, citizens need to exercise increased vigilance.
He added that there is a high probability that more cases are within the population.
