Jamaica’s men’s team secures second win at Hockey 5’s World Cup qualifiers
Jamaica’s men’s team notched up a second win at the Hockey 5’s World Cup qualifying tournament yesterday at the Mona Hockey field.
This when they outscored Puerto RIco 3-2 to climb to 2nd place in pool a – three points behind leaders United States.
Gian Paul-Haughton, Nickoy Stephenson and Shemar Gordon were on the scoresheet for Jamaica .
They will next be in action on Friday in a cross-pool match-up against Guatemala.
In the meantime the women’s team yesterday suffered a massive 10-1 hammering from Uruguay as they remain winless at the tournament.
Imauny Linton had the lone strike for Jamaica, a second minute equalizer after Uruguay had taken a first minute lead.
Jamaica now slips to the bottom of pool B’ with a lone point from their earlier 2-2 draw with Brazil.
They will be in action again tomorrow against the USA in a cross-pool encounter at 1 o ‘ clock.
