Jamaica’s franchise in CPL 2026 is now the Jamaica Kingsmen
Jamaica’s franchise, set to return to the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) this year, will officially be called the Jamaica Kingsmen.
The country’s comeback to the regional T20 tournament follows a two-year absence, which was confirmed during a press conference held this morning at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel.
The Jamaican franchise had previously been sold back to the CPL by former owner Kris Persaud, who cited financial challenges at the time, largely due to a lack of government support.
It is understood that the new ownership group, Kingsmen Sports Enterprise, had considered retaining the former team name, the Jamaica Tallawahs. However, owner Fawad Sarwar says the Kingsmen brand was ultimately the best choice. He noted that the name received endorsement from both the CPL and the government, while emphasizing that their investment in Jamaica will be a long-term commitment.
The men’s tournament is scheduled to begin in August, with Sabina Park set to host four matches. Jamaica last hosted CPL games in 2019.
