Jamaica’s airport traffic set to hit 5 million passengers by December
President of the Airports Authority of Jamaica, Audley Diedrick says Jamaica’s airport traffic is set to hit 5 million passengers by the end of the year.
This, as he says Jamaica’s travel and tourism industry is in a rapid drive phase of the recovery from the impacts of the pandemic.
Mr. Diedrick notes that when aviation traffic fell to almost zero in June 2020, the best forecast for recovery was set at five to six years.
He says Jamaica’s recovery has far exceeded expectations with 2021 seeing some 3 point 4 million passengers.
Mr. Diedrick says it is expected that Jamaica’s aviation traffic will fully recover three years earlier than expected.
