Jamaicans urged to eat more pork
Jamaicans are being encouraged to eat more pork.
The call came from State Minister for Agriculture Franklin Witter, while addressing the launch ceremony for the Pork Jamaica Marketing Campaign in Kingston, on Tuesday.
The campaign, which is a national alliance between the ministry, the Jamaica Pig Farmers Association and other key stakeholders in the Pig Industry, seeks to redefine the perception of pork and encourage more people to consume the protein.
Witter cited data which indicated that Jamaica’s pork consumption is very low compared to consumption averages, in other countries.
He commended the Pig Farmers Association for past efforts to grow pork consumption average, from 2 to 4 percent.
