Jamaicans to vote in Local Gov’t Election on Feb. 26; nomination day is next Thursday Feb. 8
Jamaicans are to head to the polls for the Local Government Election on Monday February 26.
Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie announced the date at a Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, meeting at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in St. James, today.
The party’s constituency chairpersons, members of parliament, councillors, councillor candidates, and officers were in attendance.
Mr. McKenzie also revealed that nomination day will be February 8.
Meantime, JLP Chairman Robert Montague explained why these dates were selected.
The local government election was last held in November 2016.
