Jamaicans should be bold enough to reveal identities of persons who harm children -JTA

A call is being made for Jamaicans to be bold enough to reveal the identities of persons who harm children.

The Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) made the call following last evening’s gun attack in Westmoreland, which left one Grange Hill High School student dead and another wounded.

The boy and girl had reportedly left the school’s sports day event when they were attacked by gunmen on a motorcycle.

Reacting to the incident, JTA President Leighton Johnson said Jamaicans cannot allow criminals to get away with killing the nation’s most vulnerable.

He urged Jamaicans to find safe ways of telling the police what they know.

He is also pleading with lawmen to do all they can to remove guns and ammunition from the country’s streets.
