Jamaican trio selected for West Indies U19 squad to face Sri Lanka in Antigua

Jamaicans Tyriek Bryan, Pajay Nelson, and Vitel Lawes have been named in the West Indies Under-19 squad set to face Sri Lanka in a seven-match Youth One Day International (ODI) series in Antigua.

The series, which runs from August 25 to September 15, will see the Caribbean’s brightest young cricket talent on display under the leadership of Barbados’ Joshua Dorne. Matches will be staged at the Coolidge Cricket Ground and the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium.

Dorne will be joined by teammates Shaquan Belle, Brendan Boodoo, Afraz Ali Budhoo, Zachary Carter, Earsinho Fontaine, R’jai Gittens, Micah Greenidge, Matthew Miller, Isra-el Morton, Jakeem Pollard, Aadian Racha, and Johnathan Van Lange, alongside the Jamaican trio.

The series is viewed as crucial preparation for the regional side ahead of the 2026 ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup, which is scheduled for Zimbabwe and Namibia next January.

Action bowls off next Saturday at the Coolidge Cricket Ground, which will also host the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th ODIs on September 2, 4, and 7. The teams will then move to the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium for the remaining fixtures on September 9, 12, and 15.

Sri Lanka are set to arrive in Antigua next Monday, giving them five days of preparation before the opening clash.

Meanwhile, the West Indies Under-19s will also feature in a tri-series with England and the USA later this year, as part of their build-up towards the global tournament.
