Jamaican trio head off to compete at I.S.A World Surfing Games in El Salvador
Jamaica’s top-ranked surfer, Elishama Beckford and the experienced pair of Javaun Brown and Akeem Phillips will leave the island on Monday for the upcoming I.S.A World Surfing Games in El Salvador from September 5 to 14 .
The all male trio will be guided by former national surfer, Icah Wilmot who takes on coaching duties for the campaign.
The global competition, which will feature 55 national teams, will unfold on two of El Salvador’s most iconic surf spots, La Bocana and El Sunzal Beaches.
The event is expected to draw top surfers from across the world, with Olympic qualification also adding to the stakes.
President of the Jamaica Surfing Association Inilek Wilmot, has high expectations for all three Jamaican competitors, but more so Beckford who has greater international experience.
