Jamaican Judoka Ashley Mckenzie eliminated from Judo competition in Paris
Jamaica got off to a losing start at he 2024 Paris Olympics this morning when Judoka Ashley Mckenzie was eliminated in the Mens 60 Kilogram competition at the round of 16 stage.
Mckenzie representing Jamaica for the first time in this his third Olympics was off to a good start beating Hesham Makabr of Yemen 10-0 in his opening contest to advance to the round of 16.
He was however beaten 1-0 in the round of 16 by Salih Yidiz of Turkey.
Meanwhile, the Jamaica track athletes will enter the fray in the Men’s and Women’s 100 metres next Thursday August 1.
The lone male swimmer to represent Jamaica in Paris Josh Kirlew will be in action next Friday in heat 1 of the men’s 100 metres butterfly, ……………while the lone female swimmer Sabrina Lyn splashes into action the following day in heat 7 of the women’s 50 metres freestyle.
