Jamaican international cricket umpire Jacqueline Williams has once again earned a prestigious appointment, as she has been named to the panel of match officials for the upcoming ICC Women’s One Day International World Cup, set to be played in India and Sri Lanka from September 30 to November 2.

Williams will feature on an all-female line-up of match officials, a continued move by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to promote gender equality and representation in the sport. This marks her third appearance at an ICC Women’s World Cup, where she will serve both as an on-field umpire and a TV umpire.

The ICC today unveiled the full list of match officials, comprising four match referees and 14 umpires, representing nine countries. Joining Williams from the Caribbean is Candace Laborde of Trinidad and Tobago, also selected to officiate in the global tournament.

This is not the first time the ICC has fielded an all-female officiating panel at a major event. Similar appointments were made during the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and the two most recent ICC Women’s T20 World Cups.

The 13th edition of the Women’s ODI World Cup will kick off on September 30 with hosts India taking on Sri Lanka. Defending champions Australia will open their campaign against New Zealand on October 1.
