Jamaica Women’s Cricket team embarks on T20 Blaze title defense in St. Vincent
The Jamaica Women’s Cricket Team embarks on their journey to St. Vincent today, ready to defend their CWI Women’s T20 Blaze title. Set to begin on May 1, the tournament will run until May 11, bringing together six regional teams in a thrilling contest for the prestigious crown.
Competing in a round-robin format during the preliminary stage, the six teams—Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, Leeward Islands, Trinidad & Tobago, and the host Windward Islands—will face off in a series of 16 exciting matches. Six points will be awarded for a win, three points for a no result, and zero points for a loss. The top two teams after the preliminary stage will advance to the final.
The Jamaican team, led by Rashada Williams, features seasoned campaigners Chinelle Henry, Chedean Nation, Vanessa Watts, and Kate Wilmott. The squad also includes Abigail Bryce, Nicole Campbell, Kade Wilmott, Keneisha Ferron, Chrishana McKenzie, Jodian Morgan, Lena Scott, Neisha-Ann Waisome, and Celina Whyte.
Supporting the team in their bid for victory are Head Coach Shane Brooks, Manager Novelin Ricketts, and Physiotherapist Ashley Stephens.
The Jamaicans begin their title defense against the Windward Islands, scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM Jamaica time.
Other opening-day fixtures include Guyana versus the Leeward Islands at 9:00 AM, followed by Barbados facing Trinidad & Tobago at 1:30 PM. All matches will take place at the iconic Arnos Vale Ground.
