Jamaica under severe weather alert
The Meteorological Service says, periods of heavy rainfall and strong winds are expected to impact the country from tomorrow into the weekend, as the severe weather alert remains in effect.
The met office issued the advisory yesterday and it remains in effect until 5:00 P.M. on Thursday.
Conditions are expected to be more favourable for tropical depression or tropical storm development, while the tropical wave moves across the Central Caribbean.
The Met Office says in this scenario, it is possible that a tropical storm watch could be issued while the tropical wave moves closer to Jamaica.
Duty Forecaster Tajh Edwards says fishers and small craft operators should be on alert.
Fishers on the cays and banks are advised to commence preparations to evacuate, should it become necessary.
