Jamaica under 17 basketball team in Pennsylvania at Marquee Hoops NCAA Tournament
A Jamaica under 17 basketball team is now in the United States to compete in the Marquee Hoops NCAA sanctioned Amateur Athletic Union A.A.U tournament.
The three-day event which gets underway today is in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
The squad of 15 includes 7 players from St. James in Kamau Dennis, Joshua Ferguson, Nathan Thompson, Christian Andom, Gabrielle Scalamana, Alexander Corrodus and Nyle Mccalla..
It’s completed by Elijah Smeike and Johnathan Beckford from Manchester, Ajani Walters from St. Catherine and 5 from Kingston in Shaquayne Elliot, Antoine Daye, Joel Hamm, Zachery Smith and Kyro McCalla.
The trip was organized by Wayne Dawkins Technical Director and head coach of Jamaica’s under 17 team.
He will be joined by a supportive coaching staff of Dave Black, Phil Edwards and Rohan Ferguson.
The AAU tournament will be used to aid the team’s development as well as help to prepare the selected players who will represent Jamaica in the FIBA/ CentroBasket Championship in Belize from July 25 to 30.
