Jamaica suffers first loss at the Pan American Lacrosse Championship

Written byDwight Fraser

Host Jamaica suffered their first loss at the Pan American Lacrosse Championship after they were hammered 16-2 by the USA last night at the National Stadium East Field.

Chad Palumbo scored four goals and Brian Kelly added a hat trick for the Americans, as the U.S., who outshot Jamaica 63-20, dominated the contest.

Eight different players scored for the U.S.A., while Ryan Tierney and Josh Yago had two assists apiece.

The score would have been more lopsided if not for Jamaica goalie Nate McPeak, the Syracuse graduate who made 24 saves in the lopsided contest.

Jamaica had opened the tournament with a 22-2 win over Colombia, while the U.S. defeated Puerto Rico 23-5 in its opener.

Both teams have a rest day today, and when action resumes for the Jamaicans tomorrow, they will oppose Puerto Rico in their final Pool A assignment.
