Jamaica’s  medal count stands at three courtesy  of  Hansle Parchment,  Shericka  Jackson  and  Shelly-Ann Fraser  Pryce  to  end   day three  with  two  silver  and  one  Bronze at the World Athletics Championship in Budapest, Hungary.

This  as  Shacarri  Richardson  grabbed  the  limelight  in  the  marquee  women’s  100  metres  final.

it  was  day  of  disappointment  for  young  Jaydon  Hibbert,  in  the  men’s  triple  jump  final,  while  Roshawn  Clarke  produced  a  record  breaking  performance  in  the  men’s  400  metre  hurdles  to  book  his  place  in the  final , while  making  it  national  record  number  two  in  two  days

The  flambouyant  American Shacarrie  richardson stole  the  spotlight  in  the  women’s  100  metres  final  when  she  produced  a  championship  record  10.65 seconds  to  upstage  Shericka  Jackson  who  cLocked  10.72  seconds  and  5  times  champion  Shelly  Ann  Fraser  Pryce  10.77  seconds.

She  earlier  advanced  to  the  medal  round  with  the  last  available  qualifying  slot  after  her  10.84 seconds  clocking  for  third  in  her  semi-final  behind  Jackson.

The  Olympic  champion  Parchment  with  another  slow  start  battled  into  the  silver  medal  slot  with  a  season  best  13.07 to  finish  behind  Grant  Holloway a  season  best   12.96  seconds

Frederick  Dacres  had  to  settle  for  5th  in  the  men’s  discus  final  with  his  best  effort  of  66.72  metres  while  Travis  Smikle  was  11th  at 61.90  metres

Meanwhile there was major  disappointment  for  under  20  record  holder  Jaydon  Hibbert  suffered  what  appears  to  be  a  hamstring  injury  on  his  first  effort  and  had  to  pull  out  of  the  event. 

Former Camperdown stand out Roshawn  Clarke booked  his  place  in the  final  of  the  men’s  400  meter  hurdles  with  a  new  national  record  and  World Under  20   record  47.34  seconds

This  a day  after  Adelle  Tracey  set  a  new  national  record  in  the  women’s  15  hundred  metres.

Jamaica  now sits 10th on the medal table  and  third  on  the  placings  table  with  30  points.
