Using Olympics.com and google keyword planner, the research has revealed the most successful nations for medal hauls, medals per athlete, improvement in medal rankings, gold medal wins, and nation domination in each sport, as well as determining the most successful and influential Olympians with a score out of 10.

Ethiopia with 22.70 percent is the country that has holistically punched above its weight when it comes to sports, particularly athletics, as every single Ethiopian Olympic medal winner has been in athletics.

Since 2000, they have won the men’s 10,000-metre race in four of the six olympics that have taken place and have the same record in the women’s race.

Jamaicans tend to be the opposite and are the kings and queens of sprinting – especially as Usain Bolt has eight gold medals and broke the world record in an iconic first 100 meters win in 2008.

The top 10 Olympic nations with the most medals per athlete are Ethiopia, Jamaica, China, United States, Kenya, Georgia, Russia, Azerbijan, Cuba, and Indonesia.
