Jamaica Scorpions suffer 9-wicket defeat to Barbados Pride in three days

A disappointing second innings performance saw the Jamaica Scorpions crash to a heavy 9-wicket defeat in their third-round encounter of the 2025 Regional Four-Day Cricket Championship against home team Barbados Pride at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown.

After resuming their second innings on 26 for 1, the Scorpions were bundled out for just 180, leaving them with an overall lead of 118 runs. This total was insufficient to challenge the home team, who comfortably chased down the target on the third day of play.

Javelle Glen was the standout performer with the bat, top-scoring for the Scorpions with a gritty 66. Jeavor Royal and John Campbell were the next highest contributors, adding 29 and 25 runs, respectively. However, the Scorpions’ lower order could not muster much resistance against the Barbados attack. Spinner Jomel Warrican was the chief destroyer, taking 3 wickets for 42 runs, while Ramon Simmonds (2 for 36) and Chaim Holder (2 for 52) also chipped in with key wickets.

In response, Barbados set about chasing the target of 119 with ease. The Pride made quick work of the chase, finishing on 121 for 1 with Jonathan Drakes scoring an unbeaten 52. He was involved in an unbroken second-wicket partnership of 106 with Kraigg Brathwaite, who also remained not out on 47.

Zachary McCaskie was the lone Barbadian wicket to fall, dismissed for just 4 by Odean Smith, who finished with figures of 1 for 24.

Final Scores: Jamaica Scorpions: 231 & 180 Barbados Pride: 293 & 121 for 1 (won by 9 wickets)
