Jamaica Scorpions hold slight lead heading into Day 3 of Four-Day Championship finale

The Jamaica Scorpions delivered a much-improved batting performance on Day 2 of their final-round Regional Four-Day Championship match against the Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC), but they still face an uphill battle heading into the third day at the Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Ground in Trinidad.

Batting a second time, the Scorpions closed the day on 206 for 5, holding a slim overall lead of 12 runs with five wickets still in hand. The highlight of the innings came from Javelle Glenn, who top-scored with a composed 86 and shared in a valuable fifth-wicket stand of 88 with Brad Barnes, who contributed 30. Earlier, Jermaine Blackwood added 26, while captain John Campbell retired hurt on 33.

On the bowling side, Larry Edward was the pick of the bowlers for CCC, taking 3 for 47, while Akeem Jordan and Chemar Holder chipped in with a wicket apiece.

Earlier in the day, CCC resumed their innings on 174 for 4 and pushed forward to post a challenging 327 all out, powered by a standout knock of 112 from Shaqkere Parris, who began the day on 70.

Abhijai Mansingh starred with the ball for Jamaica, claiming 5 for 91, with Peat Salmon and Brad Barnes taking two wickets each.
