Jamaica records fewer murders this year in comparison to last year

Jamaica has recorded fewer murders so far this year, in comparison to the corresponding period last year.

According to data obtained from the Jamaica Constabulary Force, 332 people were murdered up to Saturday April 20.

This is 56 fewer than the 388 recorded in the same period last year.

St. James recorded the highest number of murders with 42, followed by St. Andrew South with 30.

Portland recorded the least number of murders with 3, followed by St. Thomas with 4.

Meantime, in addition to murders, cases of rapes, robberies and break-ins have also decreased.

Rapes have declined by 45, from 136 to 91,

Robberies have gone down by 2, from 210, to 208, while break-ins have decreased by 28, from 290, to 262.
