Jamaica receives certification for eliminating mother-to-child transmission of HIV and Syphilis
Jamaica has made another significant public health achievement, with a certification from the World Health Organization (WHO) for eliminating the mother-to-child transmission of HIV and syphilis.
Jamaica officially received the certification during a ceremony at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel in Kingston on Tuesday morning.
Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton said this milestone follows years of dedicated effort to providing high-quality prevention and treatment services for women and children.
Belize as well as St. Vincent and the Grenadines also received the certification during today’s ceremony.
Some 19 nations now have a certification for eliminating the mother-to-child transmission of HIV and syphilis.
