Jamaica now has one gold, one silver and three bronze at CAC Games

Jamaica now has one gold, one silver, and three bronze medals after another day of competition at the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Santo Domingo.
This comes after the country’s athletes mined gold last night in the mixed 4×100-metre relay and bronze in the gymnastics competition.
The quartet of Travis Williams, Niesha Burger, Adrian Kerr, and Juray Levy captured the gold in 41.06 seconds.
The Jamaican team was elevated to the top of the podium after the initial winners, the Dominican Republic, were disqualified. Race officials ruled that the Dominican team committed obstruction during the first baton exchange and a lane infringement on the third leg.
Meanwhile, Jahzara Swaby won bronze in the women’s artistic gymnastics all-around final, where she scored an accumulated 48.900 points across the uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise.
Meanwhile, former national champion Malik James-King and Romario Stewart finished outside the medal positions in the men’s 400-metre hurdles final. Stewart was fourth in 49.87 seconds, while James-King placed fifth in 50.25 seconds.
Earlier in the men’s long jump final, Nickolai Williams finished off the podium in fourth with a best effort of 7.62 metres.
In the meantime, Sharvia Simmonds advanced to the final of the men’s 110-metre hurdles after winning his semi-final in 13.56 seconds, while Shaquane Gordon did not start in semi-final two.
Javeir Brown also progressed to the final of the men’s 400 metres after winning semi-final two in 45.51 seconds. Kimar Farquharson also qualified for the final after placing third in his semi-final in 45.90 seconds.
In the women’s event, Joan Reid missed out on a place in the final after clocking 53.82 seconds to finish fifth in her semi-final.
Meanwhile, Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls were on the rampage for a second straight day yesterday, crushing Bermuda 79-19 to remain unbeaten after two matches.
Simone Gordon led the scoring for Jamaica with 35 goals from 47 attempts, while Kellian Hunter added 25 goals from 32 attempts.
Jamaica will face Barbados in their third game this evening.
In boxing, Tevoy Barrett lost 4-1 to Abel Alvarez of Mexico in the men’s 70-kilogram quarter-final.
