A man-of-the-match performance from Keemo Paul powered the Jamaica Kingsmen to an exciting 51-run win over the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) matchup at Sabina Park last night.

Batting first, the Kingsmen lost two early wickets in the first over without a single run on the board, but later fought back through a solid 99-run fifth-wicket partnership between captain Rovman Powell and Paul to post 181 for 6 from their allotted 20 overs.

Paul, who also had a three-wicket haul in the contest, earlier smashed a whopping half-century of 65 runs off 65 balls, anchored on five fours and five sixes, with Powell whipping 49 runs off 39 deliveries, inclusive of four fours and three sixes.

This was the moment when Paul brought up his half-century.

Reeza Hendricks made 19, while Andre Russell was left unbeaten on 14.

This came against the bowling of Saurabh Netravalkar and Wanindu Hasaranga, who took two wickets each.

Set 182 runs to win, the Patriots fell for 130 all out in 18 overs, with Kevin Wickham the top scorer with 37 runs, while Navin Bidaisee retired hurt on 19.

Bowling for the Kingsmen, Paul returned to grab 3 for 30, and Andre Russell took 2 for 19, with a wicket each for Vitell Lawes, Hassan Khan, and Hunain Shah.

The win, which is the second on the trot for the Kingsmen, lifted them from the bottom of the points table to second place on four points, behind leaders Barbados Tridents, also on four points, but with a superior net run rate.

Jamaica Kingsmen will next face St. Lucia Kings on Friday at the Darren Sammy Stadium.
