J Capri to be honoured posthumously for “Whine & Kotch”

Nearly 11 years after her death, Dancehall Star J Capri is set to receive a posthumous award recognising the lasting impact of her music.
The late entertainer will be awarded a British recorded music industry BPI-certified silver recognition for “Whine & Kotch,” her popular collaboration with Charly black, at the excellence in music ceremony in September.
“Whine & Kotch” became one of the defining songs of J Capri’s career. Despite her untimely death in December 2015 the song continued to soar, becoming a lasting part of her musical legacy.
The excellence in music ceremony will also see several other Jamaican music figures receiving bpi-certified silver recognition. These include, Chevelle Franklyn for her contribution to Shabba Ranks’ “Mr. Loverman,” Heather Cummings for her backing vocal contribution to Beres Hammond’s “One Love, One Life,” and Ma-Isheeba, professionally known as Chyna, for her contributions to several internationally successful recordings.
