Reports have surfaced that high-level discussions are currently taking place regarding the possibility of Jamaica hosting matches in the 2031 FIFA Women’s World Cup, which will be staged primarily in the United States and Mexico.

According to sources, a formal announcement is expected to be made in New York later this month, confirming details of Jamaica’s potential involvement in the landmark event.

If confirmed, it would mark the first time a Caribbean nation hosts matches in a senior World Cup finals, signaling another major milestone for football development in the region.

The bid comes as Jamaica prepares for a major upgrade to the National Stadium, with rehabilitation work scheduled to begin in 2026 and expected to be completed by 2029. Once finished, the renovated facility is projected to seat 37,500 fans and meet FIFA’s international standards, making it suitable for top-tier global tournaments.

The 2031 edition will represent CONCACAF’s fourth time hosting the FIFA Women’s World Cup, following successful tournaments in 1999, 2015, and 2027.

Meanwhile, the Reggae Girlz are gearing up to begin their campaign for a third consecutive appearance at the Women’s World Cup when they compete in the preliminary stage of the 2026 CONCACAF Women’s Championships.
