Jamaica continues to see a decrease in major crimes
This was disclosed by Information Minister, Senator Dr Dana Morris Dixon at the post-Cabinet press briefing this morning.
Among the crimes seeing declines are murders, shootings, rapes, robberies and break-ins.
Dr Morris Dixon said the decrease is a result of several new initiatives and policies that were implemented by the Government.
Meanwhile, Opposition Spokesman on Security Peter Bunting has welcomed the downturn in serious and violent crimes across the country so far this year.
Mr. Bunting made the observation while speaking at the 81st annual joint central conferences of the Jamaica Police Federation yesterday.
He praised the members of the constabulary force for their hard work while noting that the reduction has been achieved without the use of states of emergency.
