Jamaica Agricultural Society welcomes reduction in price of some chicken products sold by Jamaica Broilers Group
The Jamaica Agricultural Society (JAS) has welcomed a reduction in the prices of some chicken products sold by the Jamaica Broilers Group.
The Group which produces Best Dressed Chicken, has announced a price reduction of $12.50 per kilo off the list price of the brand’s Grade-A whole bird and mixed parts.
The reduction will take effect tomorrow (August 18).
The Company said the reduction is a result of improvements in global market conditions, including increased stability in the grain market, stabilization of foreign exchange and reductions in containerized shipping costs.
The Group also pledged to continue reviewing its prices as conditions evolve.
Speaking with IRIE FM news, JAS President, Lenworth Fulton said the price cut is a good economic signal, and he hopes that other meat producers will follow the trend of reducing their prices.
With the current input costs associated with the poultry industry, Mr. Fulton said price reductions by other producers are more than possible.
