Dancehall entertainer Jada Kingdom said “yes” after her rapper boyfriend, Nas EBK gave her a promise ring on her 24th birthday.

Nas EBK shared a slide containing a video and pictures to Instagram which he captioned in part, “Happy birthday to the love of my life. You said you never got nothing crazy for your bday or never enjoyed it well I’m here to change that! I’ll forever treat you right you deserve the world & ima give you that.”

He continued, “I always thought finding someone like you was a myth but you proved me wrong, my love for you is unconditional & I want this forever even in the after life your mine forever ! We stuck I put that ring on that finger ill never play about you. You know how im comin no matter the circumstances you my bonnie & im your clyde locked in 5l stage 1 (promise ring ) so yall know the engagement ring gonna be some shi ”

The GPP singer, in her Instagram story shared some highlights from Sunday night (Sept 4), and also took time out to address the naysayers.

In one of her IG stories she wrote, “So majority of you don’t know what a promise ring means… Ok, copy.”

The comment comes after some Twitter users question why she was given a promise ring. One user wrote, “If you get engaged you’re a fiance’. What are you when you get a promise ring?” Another user quickly responded, “A great big bundle of potentiality.”

In the simplest of terms, a promise ring is a step up from dating. It shows the world that your heart belongs to another, and that you’re devoted to protecting and nurturing that relationship.
