Island’s third field hospital to be established at Savanna-la-Mar Hospital in Westmoreland on Thursday
Health and Wellness Minister Dr Christopher Tufton says a field hospital is to be established at the Savanna-la-Mar Hospital in Westmoreland on Thursday.
He made the statement during today’s sitting of Parliament.
He said that facility will add to the ones already established, at Black river in St Elizabeth and Falmouth in Trelawny.
The Minister said the emergency facilities are not tents, but are full fledged hospitals with operating theatres, pharmacy, blood banks, in patient care, accident and emergency wards and more.
Dr. Fufton noted that the field hospital in Savanna-la-Mar is expected to offer critical support to residents of Westmoreland and surrounding communities.
The Minister said with the establishment of the 3 field hospitals, bed capacity will be increased by approximately 150.
