Island’s public doctors even more restive as Finance Ministry fails to provide response to overtime monies issue
The island’s public doctors are becoming increasingly restless as they have yet to receive a response from the Finance Ministry regarding the unresolved issue of overtime monies owed.
The Jamaica Medical Doctors’ Association (JMDA) had written to the ministry, issuing an ultimatum that expired at midnight.
JMDA President Dr. Rene Badroe said that up to 4:00 P.M. today, there had been no response from the ministry.
She warned that the failure of the government to respond could lead to disruptions in the health sector, as the JMDA cannot guarantee normal operations.
The doctors are frustrated with the persistent delays in resolving the overtime payment issue and have stated that the situation can no longer be tolerated.
