Irie FM Veteran Broadcaster ”Big A” among 150 J’cans set to receive National Awards at Independence celebrations

150 Jamaicans are to be bestowed with National Awards as Jamaica celebrates its 62nd year of independence.

Security Minister Dr Horace Chang and Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett are among those being honoured with the Order of Jamaica.

Mr Chang is being recognized for outstanding contribution to Public Service and Politics including over 31 years of Representational politics and 22 years as a Government minister;

While Mr Bartlett is being honoured for his invaluable contribution to the field of Tourism promoting Human Resource Sustainability & Climate Resilience and for 40 years in the Public Service including over 38 years of Representational Politics and 21 years as a Government Minister.

Senator Don Wehby is also among those to receive the Order of Jamaica for his sterling contribution to business and entrepreneurship.

Businessman Wayne Chen and Olympian Hansle Parchment will receive the Order of Distinction in the rank of commander.

Mr Chen is being honoured for outstanding contributions to Public Service and Entrepreneurship while Mr Parchment is being honoured for exceptional achievements in athletics at the world and Olympic levels.

And Entertainers Rodney ‘bounty killer’ Price and Moses ‘beenie man’ Davis are being honoured with the Order of Distinction in the rank of officer for their contribution to the development of Jamaican dancehall music.

Meanwhile, Irie FMs Ainsworth ‘Big A’ Higgins will receive the Badge of Honour for long and faithful service.
