IRIE FM’s One-One Coco Relief Drive brings hope to western Jamaica

The IRIE FM One-One Coco Relief Drive continued its mission to support residents of hurricane-affected communities with the third distribution last Sunday.

The team led by DJ Sunshine, conceptualizer of the initiative, visited Green Valley and New Market in St Elizabeth and several communities in Westmoreland and Hanover including Cacoon, the birthplace of IRIE FM’s founder Karl Young.

With the support of several local businesses and dedicated IRIE FM listeners the team was able to distribute essential items including food, water and clothing to persons impacted by the category 5 storm.

Veteran broadcaster Elise Kelly, Courtney Mac, DJ Collision, Nicholas Evans, Simone Brown Keize, were among the IRIE FM employees who joined forces with several other volunteers to distribute items and provide moral support to affected residents on the ground.

Donations for the drive were made possible by several organizations including Friends of Ocho Rios, Yellow Moon Foundation, Project Star, among others.

The IRIE FM One-One Coco Relief Drive made its first distribution on Monday November 24, and again on December 14 in several St Ann communities.
