Inmate charged with murder following deadly altercation at St. Catherine Adult Correctional Centre earlier this month

The St. Catherine North police have charged an inmate with murder following a deadly altercation at the St. Catherine Adult Correctional Centre on Friday, January 17, 2025.
The accused, identified as 41-year-old Appolos Atkinson, is alleged to have killed another inmate 32-year-old Jermaine Rogers.
Reports from the Spanish Town police are that at about 2:55 PM, correctional officers at the facility heard a commotion and later discovered Rogers with a stab wound.
The correctional officers assisted Rogers to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Atkinson was charged after a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.
His court date is being finalized.
