The ‘Corporate Governance Database of Prospective Directors’ initiative, is expected to dispel the notion that a person must be connected, to become a director in the public sector.

That’s according to Finance Minister Dr Nigel Clarke.

He made the statement at the launching ceremony of the initiative on Thursday.

According to Dr Clarke, the programme will select the most suitable candidates to be appointed as a director, or to serve as a member of a board in the public sector.

He said the current system is sub-optimal.

He said the initiative will also ensure that all directors of public bodies undergo the same selection process.
