India Close In on Series Sweep Despite West Indies Fightback in Delhi
The West Indies, despite a spirited second-innings batting display, are staring at defeat on the fourth and penultimate day of the second and final Test against India in Delhi.
Set a modest target of 121 for victory, India reached 63 for 1 at stumps, needing just 58 more runs with nine wickets in hand to complete a 2–0 series sweep.
Sai Sudharsan (25 not out) and Lokesh Rahul (30 not out) guided the hosts safely to the close, adding an unbroken 54-run partnership for the second wicket after first-innings centurion Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for eight. Spinner Jomel Warrican claimed the lone wicket, conceding just 15 runs in the process.
Earlier, the Caribbean side produced their best batting effort of the series, recovering from a poor start to reach a commendable 390 all out after resuming the day on 173 for 2. Opener John Campbell, who began the morning on 87, went on to score a well-crafted 115, while Shai Hope converted his overnight 66 into a polished 103. The pair added 177 for the third wicket — the backbone of the West Indies’ innings.

Captain Roston Chase contributed 40, and Justin Greaves struck an unbeaten 50, adding valuable late-order resistance. His 79-run last-wicket stand with Jayden Seales (32) ensured the visitors posted a competitive total and a lead of 120.
India’s bowling attack once again proved effective, with Jasprit Bumrah taking 3 for 44 and Kuldeep Yadav claiming 3 for 104.
With scores of India 518 and 63 for 1, and West Indies 248 and 390, the hosts remain firmly in control heading into the final day. India already lead the two-match series 1–0 after their victory in the opening Test and are now poised to complete a clean sweep, barring a stunning collapse on the final day.
