Independent/UIC candidates contesting St. Ann NE by-elections today confident that day will go in their favour
With the by-elections in North Eastern St. Ann slated for today, the candidate for the United Independents’ Congress (UIC) and the independent candidate vying for the post of Member of Parliament have expressed confidence that the day will go in their favour.
Jamaica Labour Party candidate Matthew Samuda is also contesting the poll.
Speaking with IRIE FM News, Chase Neil of the UIC says it is up to the Constituents to select a representative who will best serve their interests.
He says he hopes their choice is the UIC.
Meanwhile, independent candidate, David Anderson says he is not daunted by the other contestants.
He has pledged to prioritize transparency and community improvements if he is successful at the polls.
Polls will open at 7 A.M. and close at 5 P.M.
Voters are entitled to three hours’ time-off from work to vote. This is in addition to the usual lunch hour.
The law, however, does not apply to persons who commence work at 10 A.M. or later, or end work at, or before 2 P.M.
Voters are reminded to take their voter ID cards to the polling station, and that the use or display of cell phones, cameras or other recording devices is not allowed inside.
