Independent Fiscal Commission says 5 of 36 staff members in place; more economic proposals coming as operations strengthen

The Independent Fiscal Commission says only five of its thirty-six staff members are in place.

The Commission launched in January, is the guardian and interpreter of Jamaica’s fiscal rules.

It is required to provide independent assessments of budgetary outcomes and independent fiscal analysis.

Speaking earlier this week at the inaugural press conference, Fiscal Commissioner Courtney Williams noted that the entity intends to expand its economic proposals while strengthening operations through a full staff complement.
