INDECOM launches probe into fatal shooting on woman in Montego Bay
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched a probe into the fatal shooting of a woman by the police in Montego Bay, St. James this morning.
The identity of the woman is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.
Deputy Commissioner Hamish Campbell said the police reported that officers intervened in a dispute between 2 women.
One of them reportedly had a knife and reportedly threatened the cops, who opened fire, hitting her.
She was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The constabulary communications network reported that the unidentified woman was fatally shot during an alleged confrontation with the police on Barnett Street.
The Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau (IPROB) is investigating the matter.
