IC says sections of IC Act prevent it from commenting on status of investigation related to illicit enrichment
The Integrity Commission says it is guided by sections 53 and 56 of the Integrity Commission Act which prevent it from commenting on the status of any specific investigation, or referral that is related to illicit enrichment.
As a result, the Commission says any circulation which makes a contrary claim or which attributes such claim to the Commission is fake.
The Commission says its clarification comes after representations about two named Members of Parliament and one Mayor were circulated on social media using a fake Integrity Commission letterhead.
It is advising the public to refer to the Commission’s website and official X account for accurate information or official statements.
