“I wouldn’t want to announce an end date” Grange on re-construction of National Stadium
The start date for the re-construction of the National Stadium facility will now be in July 2027, about one year and seven months from now.

That’s according to Sports Minister Olivia Grange who announced that the feasibility study and assessment was successfully completed in the last quarter of 2025, and that the findings were both feasible and strategically important for enhancing the country’s sporting and cultural goals.
She pointed out that the design development is still not completed.
Grange also announced that stadium east will be refurbished to facilitate events while the stadium is under construction
With Jamaica factored in to host matches at the 2031 FIFA Women’s World cup, Grange says she is still not in a position to announce a date when the stadium re-construction would be finished.
Once completed, the facility will emerge as a world-class, fully compliant venue capable of hosting major concerts as well as international track and field and football events.
Key features of the redevelopment include increased seating for 37,500 spectators for sporting events, which is expandable to 50,000 for concerts, as well as two specialized zones: a football-focused west stand and an athletics-focused east stand, each equipped with modern gyms, warm-up zones, and anti-doping facilities.
