Holness says SOEs will continue if necessary
Prime Minister Andrew Holness says the government will continue to declare states of emergency, SOEs as long as they are needed.
SOEs were imposed this morning in St. Ann, Clarendon, st. Catherine, specified areas of Kingston and St. Andrew, St. James, Westmoreland and Hanover.
The announcement comes one week after the measures expired on November 29.
Speaking at a press conference at Jamaica house on Tuesday morning, Prime Minister Holness said, the government will do what is necessary to curb the country’s crime monster, which includes, finding other methods of tackling the problem.
He said there needs to be a re-crafting and upgrading of the constitution, to allow for the use of the emergency powers, when required.
