Holness says Samuda will be re-instated as Minister with Responsibility for Water if he wins N.E St. Ann by-election
If Matthew Samuda wins the upcoming by-election in North East St. Ann, he will be re-instated as a cabinet minister with responsibility for water.
This according to Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) leader and Prime Minister Andrew Holness.
Mr. Samuda recently resigned as a JLP senator, effectively giving up his position as Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, where he had oversight for water, environment, climate change and the blue & green economies.
He was nominated yesterday to contest the by-election for N.E.S.A and is aspiring to become the constituency’s new Member of Parliament, following the resignation of Marsha Smith.
While addressing party supporters at the constituency office in S.t Ann’s Bay yesterday, Mr. Holness urged constituents to vote, and ensure that Samuda is elected, because he needs him to deal with water issues.
Mr. Holness noted that Samuda has the support of many people, both as a minister and as a Member of Parliament.
