Holness says greater effort must be made to ensure students leave schools with STEM skills
Prime Minister Andrew Holness says greater effort must be made to ensure the majority of students leave schools with the skills necessary for engagement in STEM fields of work.
This as, there is growing demand for persons with knowledge and skills in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
Speaking at the Primary Exit Profile, (PEP) awards ceremony yesterday, Mr Holness noted concerns about the performance of students in examinations for STEM subjects, especially mathematics.
He further pointed out, that in the digital technology age children must be prepared for careers in STEM fields.
The prime minister said this push towards stem education, will require a different management style for stem schools.
He described the need for students with STEM skills, as a national emergency.
