Holness expresses concern about increased use of violence in land disputes
Prime Minister Andrew Holness has expressed concern about an increase in the use of violence, in disputes about land ownership, in Jamaica.
While addressing the regional security symposium, in Trinidad and Tobago, Mr Holness noted that physical violence is used too often, in dispute resolution,
His statement comes on the heels of a similar revelation by the St. Ann police which indicated that several recent murders in the parish were related to disputes over land possession.
The St Ann police said they would be ramping up intervention measures, including bringing lawyers into the parish, to help resolve the land matters legally.
