Prime Minister Andrew Holness has committed to providing 500 new social housing units in the upcoming fiscal year.

He made the commitment while speaking at the handing over of a social housing unit in St James, on Monday morning.

He noted that the budget will be increased to allow for these units to be constructed.

And the prime minister said government is considering pre-constructed housing solutions which will reduce the construction time for the houses.
