High school relay battles to highlight the 50th staging of the Gibson/Mcook Relays
Some of the biggest battles in local high school relays will unfold tomorrow at the 50th staging of the Gisbon/Mcook Relays , which is expected to be a massive precursor to next month’s ISSA/Grace Kennedy boys and Girls Athletics Championship .
Newly minted central champions edwin allen high on the girls side, will face a stern test in all the relays from last year’s girls champs winner hydel, as well as the Corporate Area Champion Excelsior, along with Wolmers, St Catherine, Immaculate and St Jago.
The inform Corporate Area Champions Kingston College, will battle Central Champions St Jago, along with Jamaica College, a resurgent Calabar , Steer Town and others in the boys category.
Some of the events down to be contested include the 4×100 metres, for all classes for high school boys and girls, in addition to prep and primary schools, with clubs and institution men and women also included.
The feature men’s and women’s 100 meters gets underway at 6:37 pm.
The sprint medley, the 4×200 metres relay, the 4×800 , the mixed relay as well as the mile relay also make up the programme.
The meet starts at 9: 25 am with the heats of the boys 4×400 meters relay, and the first final at 4;25 pm will be the men’s 1500 meters .
